Panama III Screen
A freestanding screen composed of articulated panels, each formed from walnut Zapatero marked by time and natural transformation. Walnut Zapatero, the wood originates from a forest submerged beneath the waters of Lake Gatun in Panama in 1913, where it remained for nearly a century, preserved and transformed by time. The recovered submerged tree fragments recovered by indigenous Panamanians carry a singular depth of tone and surface character shaped by prolonged immersion and exposure.
Presented in with seven panels, each version maintains a measured balance between scale and rhythm. Bronze pivots and hinges allow controlled movement, enabling the screen to unfold as a composed architectural presence where nature is given permanence and clarity.
